Parks and Recreation Master Plan
The Plantation Parks & Recreation Department recently completed a 10-year master plan which is a tool that will help the City meet the current and future recreation needs of the community. This resident-driven plan will serve as a source of applicable decision making information and establishes clear goals and actionable objectives to guide staff, advisory committees, and the City Council in their work to maintain and enhance Plantation’s systems of parks, recreation facilities and programs over the next 10 years.
The Parks & Recreation Master Plan was adopted by City Council on February 19, 2020.
Accreditation
The City of Plantation Parks and Recreation Department has earned national accreditation from the Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies. The formal announcement was made on October 26, 2020. The Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies (CAPRA) is a quality assurance improvement process demonstrating an agency’s commitment to its employees, volunteers, patrons and community. The 151 CAPRA standards for national accreditation provide an authoritative assessment tool for park and recreation agencies. Through compliance with the standards of excellence, CAPRA accreditation assures policy makers, department staff, the general public and tax payers that an accredited park and recreation agency has been independently evaluated against established benchmarks as delivering a high level of quality.
