The City of Plantation has a strong mayor form of government, which means that Plantation’s mayor is essentially the CEO who runs the City’s day-to-day operations and executes policy set by City Council.

The Mayor is supported by a Chief Administrative Officer and two Assistant City Administrators.

The mayor’s office is responsible for a number of organizational leadership and daily management functions:

  • Coordinates the development of the City’s vision and long-term strategy.
  • Develops an annual budget that funds city projects, programs and services and presents it to City Council for consideration and adoption.
  • Oversees 14 City departments
  • Works with federal, state, county and other local leaders to share best practices and make sure that the City’s interests are represented.
  • Makes suggestions to the Broward School Board and serves as a voice for our residents.
  • Negotiates and manages a contract for solid waste disposal that is approved by the Council.
  • Addresses risk management issues.
  • Assists with resident concern resolution and ensures responsiveness to emerging community needs.

Administration also strives to communicate everything necessary to help our stakeholders understand laws, significant administrative endeavors and how residents can best provide input to this operation, which is funded through their taxes and fees.
