Living with Wildlife

Encounters with wildlife are common in developed areas like ours that used to be a wildlife habitat.  A lot of times, conflicts can be resolved by removing the attractant, as animals often seek a meal or a convenient shelter. Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission website offers a wealth of information, including the species profiles and how to deal with nuisance wildlife.

Living with pets

Pets must be registered with Broward County Animal Care Division.  Never leave your pet in a vehicle without proper ventilation or in a way that would expose it to extreme heat or cold. Dogs are not allowed to be at large and they are not permitted at City parks, except for specifically designated areas. The City requires registration and insurance for dangerous dogs. Review the City Code of Ordinances to learn more about the animal regulations in Plantation.

Broward County Animal Care Division provides an array of services, including pet tag registration, lost and found pet database and the hotline to report animal abuse. You can find cats and dogs available for adoption or sign up to foster one, get vouchers for free or low-cost sterilization, and more on the Broward County website.
