Renewal & Annual Inspection
The City’s Vacation Rental Registration and Certificate of Compliance are renewed each year simultaneously with the Business Tax renewal.
The deadline for Vacation Rental registrations and certificate renewal is July 31. Vacation Rental registrations/certificates of compliance expire September 30 of every year.
The City of Plantation Business Tax Receipt also expires September 30 and requires renewal. You may access the City of Plantation Business Tax Receipt application online.
Following the renewal of your annual Business Tax Receipt (BTR) with the City and payment of all vacation rental renewal fees, you will be contacted by the City to schedule the mandatory annual safety inspection. The purpose of the annual safety inspection is to ensure that all life safety requirements remain in place and to confirm that the property remains appropriately posted as required by City Ordinance.
Please note that safety inspections are conducted by three different City departments – the Fire Department, Building Department, and Planning, Zoning and Economic Development Department. On the date of your scheduled inspection, please ensure that you make the property available to the inspector from each of these departments. Failure to do so will result in a failed inspection and payment of reinspection fees.
A late fee is assessed to any vacation rental renewal application not submitted or incomplete by the renewal deadline.
Applications not completely submitted and paid by the expiration date (July 31) are processed as new applications.
