Chief W. Howard Harrison

Chief W. Howard Harrison was born in Orlando, Florida, and grew up in the City of Plantation. After graduating from South Plantation High School he received a full scholarship to play football at Saginaw Valley State University in Saginaw, Michigan. He earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice in 1983 and was hired by the Plantation Police Department as a police officer shortly after. Chief Harrison lives in the City of Plantation with his wife where they have raised both of their children.

Throughout his career he has served as a Detective, SWAT Officer, SWAT Sergeant, Traffic Motorcycle Officer, Traffic Homicide Investigator, Street Crimes Officer, Street Crimes Sergeant, Road Patrol Sergeant, Road Patrol Lieutenant, General Services Division Captain,  and Deputy Chief for both the Administration Bureau and the Operations Bureau. 

Chief Harrison was the 2018 President of the Broward County Chiefs of Police Association (BCCPA), is a graduate of the FBI National Academy 205th session, and a graduate of the Southern Police Institute Command Officers Development Course.
