The Plantation Police Support Services Division handles many areas of operation within the Department, such as:

Accreditation / Grants:  The Accreditation section is staffed by a civilian manager and is responsible for departmental adherence to the standards of both the Commission for Florida Accreditation and the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies.  The Grant section manages various grants provided to the City, such as U.S. Department of Justice reimbursement for ballistic vests and the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant for new technology in law enforcement.

Training Unit:  The Training Unit is staffed by two sworn officers and one administrative assistant who are responsible for the initial field training of new officers and annual State of Florida Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission requirements.  The unit also has one sworn officer as an advisor at the police academy.  The Training Unit is supervised by the Support Services Division Sergeant.

Recruitment and Selection:  The police recruiter is tasked with identifying and recruiting the best possible candidates for the position of police officer as well as other department jobs.  Selection is an in depth process carried out by many different personnel (oral boards, background investigations, psychological and medical testing) all reporting to the Support Services Division Captain.

CVSA:  The Computerized Voice Stress Analysis is conducted by a cadre of five certified examiners.  The CVSA is one part of the selection process for employment.

Range:  The range facility is a state of the art training site where law enforcement officers maintain proficiency standards and qualify annually with their firearms.  The range is staffed by the range master who is a part of the Training Unit.

Reserves:
The Reserve Unit is comprised of part time law enforcement officers who augment the daily functions of the Police Department as needed.  Reserve officers fill various roles based on personal expertise and Department needs.

Crime Prevention:  The Crime Prevention Officer is the resident expert on CPTED (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design).  This officer attends home owners and Crime Watch meetings along with the City's development meetings.  The Crime Prevention Officer offers strategies to residents and property owners on how to reduce crime and build safer communities.

Outreach:  The Plantation Police Department's Outreach Center is located in the Westfield (Broward) Mall.  The Outreach offers fingerprinting services and completes alarm permit applications.  The Outreach hosts a variety of community meetings each month and displays resource pamphlets on a variety of different topics.

Staff Inspection:  The Plantation Police Department conducts a staff inspection triennially where every employee is interviewed anonymously on a number of professional topics.  Staff inspections are a viable management practice designed to improve efficiency, effectiveness and accountability of operations.  The staff inspection reports are forwarded to the Chief of Police for review along with the command staff.  These reports contribute to the attainment of Department goals and objectives.

Code Enforcement Unit:  The Code Enforcement Unit is staffed by eight civilian code inspectors, one administrative assistant and one unit supervisor.  The unit is tasked with education and enforcement of the City's code of ordinances.
