About the Lead and Copper Rule Revisions

The U. S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) released the Lead and Copper Rule Revisions (LCRR) in 2021 to enhance lead protections in drinking water across the U.S. The purpose is to further safeguard public health by identifying and removing outdated water infrastructure and keeping customers informed of any impacts the LCRR program may have on their drinking water.

In accordance with the revised Lead and Copper Rule, utilities are required for the first time to submit a complete inventory of water service lines in their respective distribution systems by October 16, 2024. The LCRR also calls for increased communications with the public. To comply with the LCRR, the City of Plantation has launched a dedicated program with the primary objective of submitting a complete inventory of the service lines in our water distribution area by the EPA deadline, which you can access in the Inventory Map section below.

We want to assure our customers that lead was discontinued as a water service line material in 1977. The City of Plantation’s non-lead designation statement is available below.
